DRAMATIC FINAL ROUND IN STORE FOR RIVERSDALE CUP
For both men and women the 2017 final round of the Riversdale Cup today (12/3) will be a dramatic shootout from some of the world’s best amateur golfers.
On the men’s side, Dylan Perry, from The Vintage golf club in NSW, takes a one shot lead over another player from NSW, Avondale’s Harrison Endycott, into the final round.
In his third round, Perry fired a nerveless 6-under 66 to put himself at the top of the leaderboard.
Endycott, who won the Riversdale Cup last year, appreciates the pressure of the occasion and is certain to push his claim for back-to-back championships.
Up to a dozen men are in serious contention to take home the prestigious trophy and the golfing attention it generates.
On the women’s side of the draw, 18-year-old Gabi Ruffels, from Victoria golf club, has restored the lead she took in the opening round to lead by three shots going into the final day.
Ruffels, who is a part of a family better known for its tennis credentials, is looking to add another Riversdale Cup to the trophy cabinet after brother Ryan’s victory it in 2014.
Ruffels has to see off the challenge from Japan’s Kokone Yoshimote and Avake Furue, both on one over.
The two Japanese women are part of a national contingent of eight men and women, seven of whom made the cut.
