Young Illawarra golfer, Travis Smyth, has shot to the lead after the third round of the Riversdale Cup, Australia’s premier amateur golf tournament.
His 4-under 68 in the third round has left him at 6-under for the tournament and one shot ahead of the second round leader, Taylor Macdonald, from the Redcliffe golf club in Brisbane.
Heritage golf club’s Dj Loypur and Commonwealth’s Lucas Herbert are a further shot back on 4-under.
Up to 10 of the best young amateurs from Australia and overseas are in a position to challenge 20-year-old Smyth, who plays with both the St Michael’s golf club in Sydney and Kiama golf club on the NSW South Coast, for the title.
Meanwhile, diminutive New Zealander, Munchen Keh, at one-over, leads the women’s Riversdale Cup – run in conjunction with the men’s championship- into the final round.
